Trailer Talk: Upcoming releases for 2012

It’s funny how they’re already playing trailers for movies set to run in 2012, only because there’s still so many 2011 ones not out yet that still need to be seen; or at least, that’s how I feel about it.

Anyway, same as before, here’s some trailers and my thoughts.  Obviously this isn’t a conclusive list since new movies are being made all the time, but this is all based on trailers I’ve seen in movies recently.  Again, it’s in no particular order.

The following movies I definitely plan on watching in theaters:

Title: The Vow
Release Date: February 10, 2012
Casting: ***
Story: ***
“Go” Factor: ***

OVERALLSome have said that this is The Notebook meets Dear John; I mean, both Channing Tatum and Rachel McAdams have appeared in previous Nicholas Sparks flicks.  While I think it’s a shame it’s not Ryan Gosling and Rachel McAdams reuniting on-screen, given their real-life circumstances I suppose that’s understandable.  I wouldn’t have minded if it was like a Revolutionary Road (Leonardo DiCaprio, Kate Winslet – Titanic) type of on-screen reunion though.  If I’m going to be fair, I think Tatum’s acting is sort of hit-or-miss at best, but I look forward to seeing how he does in this role.  While this doesn’t seem like a mind-blowing story, I do have a soft spot for the occasional corny romance.

Title: The Avengers
Release Date: May 4, 2012
Casting: ***
Story: ***
“Go” Factor: ***

OVERALLI sat through the credits of Captain America: The First Avenger (2011), I believe, to see this, and I’m very happy that I did.  The cast is filled with some of my most favorite actors and I am greatly looking forward to this movie; enough said.

Title: The Dark Knight Rises
Release Date: July 20, 2012
Casting: ****
Story: ****
“Go” Factor: ****

OVERALL:  Perhaps I am over-hyping this in my mind because the cast is filled with some of my favorite people, and I absolutely adore the director, but I am definitely looking forward to this movie.  I didn’t really like the other two The Dark Knight installments, but this one looks less scary and violent, so I’m sure my weak stamina can handle it, haha.

Title: Ice Age: Continental Drift
Release Date: July 13, 2012
Casting: N/A – Animated.
Story: **
“Go” Factor: ***

OVERALL:  As always, Ice Age looks hilarious.  Not for everyone though.  I’m just going to watch it for the laughs.

Movies that I am unsure about whether or not to watch in theaters:

Title: John Carter
Release Date: March 9, 2012
Casting: **
Story: **
“Go” Factor: **

OVERALL:  This looks like it could be a hit-or-miss for me.  In fact, this movie kind of reminds me of how I felt about the movie for Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time, which I have yet to see.  It just doesn’t seem like a story that pops out at me right away; not to mention the trailer doesn’t give a whole lot of information about the plot.

=Couldn’t find a legit trailer for this one, sorry!!!!=

Title: Wrath of the Titans
Release Date: March 30, 2012
Casting: **
Story: **
“Go” Factor: **

OVERALL:  Apparently there was a movie before this, but I never saw or heard about it.  I find it hilarious that I recognize two of the characters from those “please, no talking or texting” messages before the start of a movie.  What piques my interest about this is my soft spot for anything based on ancient mythology of any culture, and the fact that Sam Worthington is in it makes it a bonus.

Title: The Amazing Spiderman
Release Date: July 3, 2012
Casting: **
Story: **
“Go” Factor: **

OVERALL:  Not sure how I feel about the whole reboot thing, especially since I’m used to seeing Tobey Maguire as Spiderman, but I suppose I may give it a shot if/when I see/hear more about it.

As I’ve said before, this list will more than likely be expanded in the future as I catch wind of more movies, but I’ll probably just make a whole new post for that.

Catch ya’ll later!
