Another good place to get your karaoke on is Color Music Studio, located in Wheaton, MD. (When inputting it into a GPS though, you might need to plug in the city it’s in as being Silver Spring, MD.)
One convenient thing about where this karaoke bar is located is that it’s literally Woomi Garden’s neighbor. So if you’ve just finished a nice dinner with your friends and happen to want to go singing, Color Music Studio is so close by, you could even walk there if you really wanted to.
This karaoke spot’s interior is starkly different from FM Karaoke. For one thing, I believe all the room sizes are the same here. Also, I’m pretty sure this is one of those karaoke bars where the fee is a flat $30/hr. no matter what room you get—I’ve gone there a fair amount of times. The inside is also a lot darker than FM Karaoke, which is pretty well-lit. If you’d prefer to sing publicly, there’s a space outside where one party can sing, and there’s also a bar (which FM Karaoke doesn’t have). They also serve finger food like wings, which I don’t think FM Karaoke does either.
Above is a picture of one of the rooms that I pulled off the Internet, and no, there usually isn’t Windex on the table. Haha. They offer wireless mics here too, which isn’t something that FM Karaoke offers. The picture I have up there of the room also may make it seem like the rooms are tiny, but they’re actually surprisingly spacious.
Unlike FM Karaoke, this place is only open five nights a week—5pm to 11pm Tuesday through Thursday, and until 1am on Fridays and Saturdays. It’s near the Wheaton Metro Station (Red line), if you’d like to take the Metro. If you’d prefer to drive, the address is 2403 University Blvd W, Silver Spring, MD 20902. They accept either credit or cash.
The owner and his staff are pretty friendly too, so if you have any questions, here’s a number where you can call them: (301) 962-3560.
So what are your standards when you start singing?
I’m not sure what you mean by this question, haha. If you mean the quality of the karaoke machine, then it’s got to be updated with the most recent songs and the mics should have a good echo. If you mean my singing style at a karaoke place, it depends on the group I’m with. Some people go to be “serious” about it, but I personally prefer going with a group of people who just wants to be silly and sing things like Spice Girls’ “Wannabe.” Hahaha.
