[Review] Lighthouse Tofu (빛고을 순두부) – Rockville, MD

Before you say it, yes.  I realize I’ve been plugging out a disgusting amount of entries within the last few hours.  Just think of it as making up for all the days where I went by, pretty much writing nothing and barely contributing anything to this blog.  Anyway, my last few Korean food entries got me to thinking about all of my favorite Korean restaurants to go to during college.  These next three entries I’m going to plug out highlight the three places I went to most often while being in undergrad.

The one I’m going to highlight here is the cheapest of the threeLighthouse Tofu.  This place isn’t so much near my school as it was just a favorite place for my friends and I to go to.  Located in Rockville, MD, until recently I didn’t really know the name of this place.  I just always called it the tofu soup restaurant with the blue roof.  Haha.  Most people familiar with this restaurant seem to know what I mean when I say that.

This restaurant is more spacious than Arirang, but it’s still a fairly small venue.  I’d like to say it’s a little smaller than the Honey Pig in Ellicott City.  Just like Arirang though, if you’re not paying attention, you might accidentally pass the restaurant by while driving.  The building itself is hard to miss, if you know what you’re looking for, but you can easily pass by the entrance to the parking lot if you’re not ready.

Here’s how I’d rate this place:

Online Ordering?:  No.
Delivery?:
No, but I think they do offer carryout.
Wi-fi?:
No.
Kids Menu?:
No.
Buffet?:
No.
Kosher-friendly?:
No.
Vegetarian/Vegan-friendly?:
I think they have veggie-friendly soups.
Recommended:
Yes – Especially if you’re craving just tofu soup and want it at a cheap price.

Like the name implies, this restaurant’s main focus is just their tofu soups.  (I just went there about three weeks ago, in fact.  The soup I ordered hit the spot!)  If you’re looking for cheap Korean tofu soups and not concerned with having a large variety of other Korean dishes on the menu, then this is your place.
