My Liebster Blog Award picks

So of course when my blog isn’t on hiatus mode (which happens from time to time when I’m promoting someone/something/someplace that I think deserves some extra attention), I seem to have difficulty thinking of things to write about, but then when I do go on hiatus, all of a sudden what feels like a thousand different topic ideas suddenly hit me all at once in one relentless wave of inspiration.  As a result, you get days like my entries on February 28th and 29th of this year, where I suddenly write three entries in one day (though of course then I seem to disappear for days after, haha, totally unintentional, I swear).

Anyway right now, it’s April 4, and I’m writing up this entry which is going to be sitting in my draft queue until either late Sunday or early Monday, since I made a promise to The Exception that my interview with him would be featured on my site for seven days, much like I did with Lesley Carter’s article.  Something came up that gave me an itch to write, and it’s all thanks to (once again) the people at one of my favorite blogs, 3 Guys 1 Movie.  They recently awarded me something called the Liebster Blog Award, which I had never heard of until one of the guys emailed me about it.  I want to say it was Adam, but maybe it was Griff??  I don’t know.  These guys need to sign their emails!!  Hahaha.

So what exactly is this award?  Well, here’s a quote that the guys at 3 Guys used that I’m now pasting here below.  Hopefully it makes some kind of sense.

“The rules are that the winners have to pay forward to other people whose sites are worth the recognition. If they accept the award, they should: thank the person who nominated them; nominate five other favorite blogs with fewer than 200 followers, and copy/paste the Liebster Blog Icon into their post.”

I know, it sounds like the chain letters we used to all pass around in middle school.  The difference is, this “chain” actually can benefit people.  It’s bloggers helping other bloggers get traffic to their site.  And I don’t think “losing” current followers is really a concern.  I think that as long as a blogger writes quality posts, they’re never really going to lose their base.  Of course, these are also just “nominations,” so if the people picked don’t want to continue the chain, there’s nothing obligating the person to do so.  It’s not like there’s a little Liebster camera following you around everywhere after you’ve been nominated.  :p

Before I get to my nominations, I just want to direct you to the Liebster nomination post at 3 Guys 1 Movie.  Any “Top 5”-esque list is worth checking out, right?  🙂

Okay, now onto my picks.  It was really tough to choose because all the blogs I like to follow are on the “Blogs I Like” subsection of my links page, but it helped a lot that one of the criteria for the Liebster Blog Award was that the blog had to have less than 200 followers.  That totally narrowed down my pool.  There were two blogs where I couldn’t find the follower counts anywhere on the blog, so I mentioned them last (though the lack of follower count definitely gave me an excuse to mention them in this post, haha).

Anyway, without further ado, here are my five nominations:

1. sweet memories ♡ oh so sweet (photography)
Found this blog off through “Freshly Pressed,” which is how I usually find a lot of these blogs.  (Other times I just click on people who have interesting avatars or write a pretty witty comment that catches my eye.)  Anyway, there’s definitely some fantastic photos on this blog.  Absolutely worth checking.

2. Word Salad (????)
I’m not sure what I’d categorize this blog.  Also, I swear I’ve stumbled on this blog once before, a long time ago, but I don’t know why I didn’t bookmark it then.  I found this one by clicking on a comment on a blog post on a different blog.  Some of the entries on this site are just hilarious, and I love a good laugh.

3. The Blue Factory (photography)
There’s some photography, and some artwork on this one, although I think she also dabbles in other things.  I think this was another “Freshly Pressed” stumble, and I really like the vibrant colors in a lot of her posts.

4. The Road Goes On Forever (photography)
Out of all the photography blogs I follow so far, I think this is my favorite one right now.  I think this guy’s photos are amazing.  He takes pictures in such a way that makes me wish I was in those places too!!  Check his site out—I think you’ll see what I mean.

5. Klara’s Street (photography)
This is one of the first blogs I ever followed, and I still check up on it regularly.  I am an absolute sucker for great black-and-white photography, and this blog has tons of it!

Well, that’s it for now!  Hope you check out the blogs and see you all again next entry!  🙂
