That’s right! A double update! This is my short review for the short Pixar film, Lava.
I remember feeling a little skeptical, because Pixar usually doesn’t do talking shorts—at least, not from what I can recall off the top of my head, anyway. Turns out though, my wariness was unwarranted. This was definitely a cute short film.
I don’t really want to give too much away, so I’ll be brief. Even in such a short span of time, I felt like I went through a myriad of emotions watching this short film. I also found it to be the perfect complement to Inside Out (2015), and I’m glad they went for this choice. The teaser trailer, once again, did not reveal everything that this short film has to offer, which is great.
Final Thoughts: Don’t miss it! Make sure that if you need to go to the bathroom, empty out before the movie starts, and try to avoid drinking large quantities of fluids (unless you need to, of course). I felt like there wasn’t any real “good time” to get up during the movie for a self-imposed intermission, so I’d say make sure you’re prepared to sit for the whole feature when you go in!
